Water and the Future of the San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento

What are the key water challenges facing the San Joaquin Valley, and how can the state and federal governments help support the valley’s efforts to manage water and land resources for long-term sustainability? Ellen Hanak, director of the PPIC Water Policy Center, summarizes findings from a new PPIC report, “Water and the Future of the San Joaquin Valley,” followed by a panel discussion. Panelists are Wade Crowfoot, secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency; Thomas Hedt, state resource conservationist at Natural Resources Conservation Service‒California; and Karen Ross, secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The moderator is Sarge Green, project director for the Center for Irrigation Technology at Fresno State.
